Carnegie Project featured in The Design Files
Our recently completed Carnegie project has been featured in The Design Files. Designed by Preston Lane Architects and built by Yarrabank, the project carefully restores the original Federation home while introducing a timber-clad extension shaped around the existing garden and its much-loved pink peppercorn tree. The result is a considered balance of old and new, with natural materials, thoughtful detailing and a strong connection between architecture and landscape.

Treeview Cottage wins at the 2025 ArchiTeam Awards
Treeview Cottage has been named a Winner at the 2025 ArchiTeam Awards, taking out Residential Alterations & Additions (up to $500k).
Designed by Tsai Design and built by Yarrabank Builders, the project demonstrates how thoughtful design can transform a modest home without enlarging its footprint.
The judges highlighted the clarity of the approach — prioritising removal, reorganisation and reorientation over addition. The result is a series of bright, connected spaces that respect the home’s history while making a confident contemporary statement.
Using recycled materials with care and craftsmanship, Treeview Cottage stands as a refined, sustainable example of suburban renewal delivered within a restrained budget.

South Melbourne project featured in The Design Files
Our South Melbourne project has been featured by The Design Files — a generous write-up highlighting how thoughtful design and considered construction can completely reimagine a narrow inner-city terrace.
Delivered in close collaboration with Healy Ryan Architects, this project is a great example of what can be achieved when every millimetre matters. From reworking the floor plan to opening the home to light and garden views, the build focused on precision, restraint and unlocking potential within a highly constrained site.

Richmond project shortlisted for 2025 ArchiTeam Awards
We’re thrilled to share that our Richmond renovation, Treeview Cottage, designed by Tsai Design and built by Yarrabank Builders, has been named a finalist in the 2025 ArchiTeam Awards in the category Residential Alterations & Additions (up to $500k).
This project reimagines a compact, historic Richmond terrace with a light filled, sustainable update, proving that smart design and careful craftsmanship can make smaller budgets go further.

Richmond project featured in The Design Files
Tsai Design and Yarrabank Builders collaborated to refresh a Richmond home shaped by 20 years of lived experience. After previous renovations, the 2021 update—nicknamed ‘The Final Edit’—focused on the ground floor, improving flow, storage, and indoor-outdoor connection. The kitchen was moved beside the deck, the western wall opened to the outdoors, and the living, dining, and outdoor areas were seamlessly linked. A palette of pale timber and two-tone blue cabinetry adds warmth and cohesion, while a darker blue study hides a secret pink-tiled bathroom. A clever sliding door allows two people to use the bathroom at once—just one of many practical touches that make this home feel truly complete.

South Melbourne project featured in Habitus Living
Healy Ryan Architects and Yarrabank Builders transformed a narrow South Melbourne terrace into a luminous, modern sanctuary, blending tradition with innovation to overcome heritage constraints and limited space. A two-story light shaft channels sunlight into the reconfigured interiors, while a minimalist design maximises space with an oak kitchen island, larch flooring, and granite benchtops. The project also included constructing a new basement beneath the heritage-listed dwelling, achieved through five complex concrete pours on a site with just 1.7m access.

Surrey Hills project featured in Melbourne Home Design and Living magazine
This special project was built in honour of the client’s father-in-law, an architect who sadly passed away shortly after he designed the renovation plans. The stunning extension provides ample room for visiting family and friends, as well as space for the kids to run around and play – the perfect tribute to the client’s late loved one and a dream family home.
